Our fifth Thesis Thursday webinar, “Altmetric and Scholarly Impact: Strategies for Increasing Research Visibility,” was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Ramsie Ferrer, who shared valuable insights on how researchers can increase the visibility, reach, and impact of their scholarly work.
Our fourth Thesis Thursday webinar wrapped up with Dr. Niña Christina L. Zamora and Dr. Arlyne C. Marasigan, who showed how to close a manuscript with conclusions that answer your research questions and recommendations that are clear, realistic, and backed by your findings. They also covered how the other manuscript components come together on the way to publication.
The third session of the webinar series “Thesis Thursday: Your Bridge to Scholarly Publication” was successfully conducted on September 3, 2026, as part of an initiative that aims to guide researchers in writing, preparing, and publishing quality academic papers.
The article titled, “The relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance of Myanmar school teachers,” authored by Aye Aye Myint, and Aye Aye Aung received the highest number of citations, with 44 citations, in the second quarter of 2026.

Title: AI-Integrated English Classroom Practices in Philippine Higher Education
Abstract: Traditional language instruction presents challenges that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can address, offering adaptive learning experiences that enhance teaching and learning. This descriptive study explored the integration of AI tools into English teaching in Philippine higher education, using both qualitative and quantitative data. Data were gathered from interviews with 11 teachers, seven students, and three administrators, and surveys of 32 teachers and 151 students. Quantitative findings indicate strong agreement on AI’s positive impact M(overall) = 3.28, SD = 0.34. Educators strongly agreed that tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly streamline lesson planning (Mean = 3.89, SD = 0.25), while Turnitin, Microsoft Copilot, and Canvas LMS enhance assessment efficiency and interactivity. Qualitative results support these findings, emphasizing themes of efficiency, personalized feedback, and interactive learning. The study concludes that effective AI integration promotes adaptive, data-informed, and learner-centered pedagogy, requiring ongoing capacity building, digital literacy, and institutional support to sustain educational innovation.

The PNU Publication Office successfully held its first Thesis Thursday webinar on August 6, 2026, where Dr. Levi E. Elipane guided participants through writing the Introduction, Literature Review, and Theoretical/Conceptual Framework of a research paper.
During the 21st Meeting of Presidents held on July 1, 2026, in Cebu City, Philippines, the ASEAN Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) approved the membership applications of four higher education institutions, marking another milestone in the Network's continued expansion across the region.
The newly admitted member institutions are Hanoi National University of Education (Vietnam), Cebu Normal University, Leyte Normal University, and West Visayas State University (Philippines).
The addition of these institutions strengthens AsTEN's regional partnerships and broadens opportunities for collaboration in teacher education, research, faculty and student engagement, and knowledge exchange across ASEAN. Their membership reflects the Network's continuing commitment to fostering excellence and cooperation among teacher education institutions in the region.
The Publication Office of the Philippine Normal University officially conducted the Thesis Thursday Onboarding, welcoming participants to “Thesis Thursday: Your Bridge to Scholarly Publication.”
The onboarding session introduced the program’s objectives, webinar structure, submission guidelines, and publication opportunities, providing participants with a clear roadmap for transforming their theses and dissertations into journal-ready manuscripts.
Through this initiative, the Publication Office reaffirms its commitment to strengthening research culture and empowering graduate students with the knowledge, mentorship, and skills needed to contribute meaningful scholarly publications.

Tanjong Malim, Malaysia — Members of the AsTEN Journal of Teacher Education (AsTEN JTE) Editorial Board convened at Scholar’s Suites, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), for a three-day planning workshop focused on advancing the journal’s alignment with global academic publication standards. Delegates from ASEAN partner institutions gathered under the theme “Editorial Excellence & Operational Efficiency” to review journal workflows, refine review mechanisms, and establish a clear operational roadmap toward Scopus-level indexing benchmarks.
Day 1: Key Performance Indicators and Workflow Optimization
The first day of the workshop focused on reviewing performance metrics and improving operational efficiency. Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim opened the proceedings, followed by presentations from Managing Editor Dr. Marie Paz E. Morales and Assistant Managing Editor Dr. Adonis P. David, who shared key diagnostic indicators and the workshop framework.
Throughout the day, Dr. Morales and Dr. David facilitated working sessions where delegates examined initial screening protocols, managed submission backlogs, and identified ways to streamline review workflows for greater publishing efficiency. The day concluded with a welcome dinner hosted by UPSI at Scholar’s Suites.
Day 2: Quality, Sustainability and Strategic Planning
The second day centered on long-term policy development, editorial standards, and regional collaboration. Morning sessions led by Dr. Morales, Dr. David, and Mr. Ramos focused on strengthening the journal’s reviewer network, updating evaluation frameworks, and establishing unified editorial decision rubrics.
In the afternoon, the board conducted strategic planning sessions to define operational milestones for the coming quarters, with the shared goal of achieving a faster and more responsive submission-to-decision process. The workshop concluded with a guided campus tour hosted by UPSI, highlighting regional partnership and institutional collaboration.
Leadership and Participating Institutions
The planning workshop brought together editorial leaders and institutional representatives from across the ASEAN network. Leadership was provided by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim of Indonesia, Dr. Marie Paz E. Morales of the Philippines, Prof. Dr. Adonis P. David of the Philippines, and Assoc. Prof. John Carlo M. Ramos.
Participating institutions included the National Institute of Education–NTU (Singapore), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Philippine Normal University, and host institution Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Malaysia).

The AsTEN Journal of Teacher Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ahmad Bukori Muslim as its new Editor-in-Chief.
Dr. Muslim is a Professor of Educational Linguistics at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia with a distinguished record in teacher education, educational research, and academic leadership. His work reflects a strong commitment to teacher education, language and literacy studies, and active engagement in academic and professional initiatives across the region. Under his leadership, the journal will continue to uphold methodological rigor, relevance to classroom practice, and the inclusive representation of diverse educational contexts.
As Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Muslim will work closely with the editorial team and the AsTEN community to advance the journal's mission of promoting high-quality research in teacher education. He will play a key role in shaping editorial policies and fostering scholarly dialogue that contributes to the continued development of teacher education in Southeast Asia and beyond.
