Abstract
This study aimed to analyze and describe the lived experiences of out-of-field teachers in Filipino. It utilized the Husserlian Descriptive Phenomenology and Colaizzi‘s Seven Steps of Data analysis to describe and explore the lived experience of the out-of-field teachers in Filipino. There were five out-of-field teachers who participated in this study who were chosen purposively. Analysis of the qualitative data resulted to four clustered themes: against the will, obstacles in learning, ways of adapting the challenge and benefits in out-of-field teaching. This result of the study implied that teachers who were in this kind of teaching encountered both positive and negative experiences. Thus, it is suggested that supervisors of the different schools must have corresponding policy in their recruitment process related to out-of-field teaching. Seminars and proper monitoring may also be provided to all teachers who are in this situation.
