Philippine Normal University Official Launch of SINAG Awards and Awarding Ceremony

The Philippine Normal University (PNU), through its Publication Office (PO) and led by the university president, Dr. Bert J. Tuga, proudly announces the official launch of the PNU SINAG Awards. The event took place today (November 10, 2023) at 9:00 a.m. at the prestigious Geronima T. Pecson Hall Main Auditorium. This momentous occasion also marked the announcement of the coveted PNU SINAG Best Entry and Best Article awards.

The PNU SINAG (Showcasing Interesting and Notable Academic Genres) Awards were conceived in 2020 with the primary objective of featuring and honoring outstanding articles published in PNU-managed journals. Among these esteemed publications are The Normal Lights (TNL), Asia-Pacific Higher Education Journal (APHERJ), and the AsTEN (Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network) Journal of Education.

The PNU SINAG Awards ceremony was an eagerly anticipated event, bringing together scholars, educators, and contributors who have enriched the academic landscape through their research and articles. The ceremony began with a warm welcome from the PNU officials, highlighting the importance of recognizing and celebrating excellence in academic writing. The spotlight of the ceremony was on the announcement of the Best Article and Best PNU-SINAG Entry awards.

Best Article: “Ang Sitwasyon ng Pagtuturo-Pagkatuto ng Etnoastronomiya sa Batayang Edukasyong Pansekondarya ng Agham,” which was published in The Normal Lights Volume 16 Issue Number 1.

Authored by Renalyn Daza, Irene Fe Esma, Rizza Mae Ingel, Michael Andio Suan, and Ariel Bosque from Rizal Technological University, this groundbreaking article delves into the situation of teaching and learning ethnoastronomy in basic secondary science education. This article’s in-depth research and valuable insights earned it the prestigious Best Article title.

Best PNU-SINAG Entry: “Effect of Environmental Knowledge and Awareness on Green Behavior: Testing Behavioral Intentions, Environmental Attitude, and Green Commitment as Mediators,” published in The Normal Lights Volume 16 Issue Number 2. Lanie Santos of De La Salle Lipa and Cyren Grace Ramirez from the Department of Education Batangas Province collaborated on the Best PNU-SINAG Entry.

The launch of the SINAG Awards and the acknowledgment of these outstanding contributions to academic literature marks a significant milestone for the Philippine Normal University.
